Pakistan’s former prime minister looks to blockchain technology for public benefit

Shaukat Aziz, former prime minister of Pakistan, proposed that on April 6, 2018, the Pakistani government issued the first cryptocurrency ban. After more than a year of a total ban on cryptocurrencies, Pakistan’s attitude towards blockchain and digital assets has finally changed, with the state bank of Pakistan (SBP) discussing and formulating the regulation of Electronic Money Institutions (EMI).

This year, the state bank of Pakistan (SBP) issued a statement saying that institutions willing to use “cryptocurrencies” could now get permission from the central bank to issue “cryptocurrencies for electronic payments purposes”.

Shaukat aziz said, the people of Pakistan is gradually accepted block chain economic trends, Pakistan is studied and prepared in the local currency payment application to encrypt, Pakistan will also provide a friendly environment, choose high quality chain block project, strengthen block chain economic participation and supervision, promoting the application block chain of landing at an early date.

The government’s regulatory policy will facilitate the development of cryptocurrency projects in Pakistan and serve as a stepping-stone to wider acceptance and use of cryptocurrency in Pakistan. Shaukat aziz hopes more attention will be paid to the development of the block chain economy in Pakistan, where cryptocurrency payment applications will soon be born.
