Increase in Beauty Consciousness & Growing Awareness about Facial Injections Causes Spike in Demand for Non-Surgical & Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Procedures

The observation has been made by renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Angobaldo (aka Dr. Plano) of Renaissance Plastic Surgery clinic.

Plano, TX – Renowned board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Plano of Renaissance Plastic Surgery clinic, is announcing he has seen an increase in beauty consciousness and a growing awareness about facial injections with the demand for non-surgical and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures.

Facial injectables refer to the aesthetic treatments and procedures used to treat skin conditions associated with aging, to change the contours of facial structures such as the jawline or cheekbone, and to add volume to make facial features appear more full, smooth, and youthful.  For quite some time, procedures such as these have long held the stigma of “having work done” but, as Dr. Plano is observing, they are reshaping the beauty industry and are more popular now than ever.

“The effects of age, gravity, exposure to sunlight, plus the stresses of life, all take a toll on a person’s face,” says Dr. Plano. “Thankfully, with the advancements in skincare, medical professionals now have solutions to fight off the side effects of the above-mentioned aging process.”

“Neurotoxins, such as Botox and Dysport for example, are the most commonly used wrinkle-reducers that act by temporarily relaxing facial muscles under the skin and causes wrinkles to be smoothed out,” Dr. Plano continues.  “This restores a more youthful look to the patient and will prevent the lines and wrinkles from worsening over time.  A typical treatment lasts three to six months, with the most common treatment areas being the frown lines, or 11’s, the forehead, and around the eyes (crow’s feet).”

Dr. Plano goes on to say that facial (dermal) fillers provide temporary to long-lasting solutions administered through a few tiny facial injections to the problem area of the face. They are most commonly used to treat nasolabial folds, placed in the cheeks and jaw to replace lost volume and reduce sagging skin around the mouth, in the lips for volume and along the border to increase the definition of lips or reduce the fine lines and wrinkles that become worse as we age.

“A variety of products such as Juvederm® and Restylane® replace this lost volume, recapturing a younger looking face,” says Dr. Plano.  “These facial fillers are marketed to last from six months to a year or more, depending upon the specific filler.  Your injector will choose the filler best suited for your desired outcome.”

With all of these advancements, Dr. Plano has noted the dramatic rise among cosmetic patients coming in to be seen with the desire for non-surgical procedures.  According to the board-certified plastic surgeon, as little as five to ten years ago it was more common for patients in their 40’s to start addressing signs of aging, while people who are in their 50’s want to eliminate deep wrinkles and sagging that have already developed.

“Recent surveys and statistics from the ASPS confirm, however, the growing trend of patients in their 30’s and younger requesting injectable treatments as preventative maintenance to keep wrinkles from forming in the first place,” states Dr. Plano.  “The popularity of these trends on social media that is seen with influencers, beauty bloggers and celebrities has also driven millennials to seek injectable fillers to highlight features they would like to enhance such as their lips and cheeks.”

“While Botox and fillers may be smart options for patients with mild to moderate volume loss and wrinkle lines,” Dr. Plano continues, “those with severe wrinkling or skin sagging would benefit most from a mini or full facelift.”
