Altia Announces DeepScreen Code Generation Support for NXP i.MX RT1060 Crossover MCU

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – July 22, 2022 – Altia announces the availability of Altia DeepScreen code generation for the NXP i.MX RT1060 Crossover MCU. Customers seeking to close the gap between high performance and cost-effective graphical user interface (GUI) solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) devices can now do so with the powerful cooperation of Altia and NXP. Altia’s solution leverages our highly optimized and compact miniGL engine architecture to maximize performance, while still enabling a robust suite of graphics capabilities.

The i.MX RT1060 processor delivers the highest performing Arm® Cortex®-M7 that can support both real-time performance and an applications processor level of functionality. This platform includes 1MB of on-chip SRAM with up to 512KB configurable as Tightly Coupled Memory (TCM). It contains advanced multimedia peripherals including the 2D PXP accelerated graphics engine, a parallel camera sensor interface and a parallel 24-bit LCD display controller which supports up to WXGA (1366×768) resolutions.

With Altia’s release of this code generation target, customers can now scale their Altia GUI models across a wide array of NXP products, including the i.MX 8, i.MX 6, i.MX 1060, i.MX RT1160, i.MX RT1170, S32V, MAC57D5xx, MPC5645S, MPC5606S, i.MX28, i.MX53, LPC1788, and VFxxx families.

Altia’s GUI development software is used by companies all over the world to deliver custom interfaces for automotive, construction and agriculture, medical, consumer and industrial devices. Development teams start with their favorite graphics tools, import their artwork into Altia Design, and create fully functional GUI models that can be tested early and often to achieve a seamless user experience. Once a GUI model is complete, developers deliver their artist’s pixels to production hardware with the Altia DeepScreen code generator. Altia’s code generation solutions are exceptionally suited for hardware like the NXP i.MX RT1060 Crossover MCU. Features like the Altia miniGL pipeline and Binary Asset Manager work in concert to store image assets as hardware optimized formats by automatically selecting the correct pixel-depth and compression options, while enabling the lowest possible memory footprint and best performance on chip.

“For customers designing and deploying 2D graphics for IoT devices with the NXP i.MX RT1060, Altia offers a potent solution for achieving the rich graphics and on-chip performance that make for a satisfying user experience,” said Jason Williamson, Altia Vice President of Marketing. “As companies seek to scale their GUIs from a high-power processor like an i.MX 8 to other product lines, Altia’s scalable GUI solutions combined with products like the i.MX RT1060 continue to enable high end graphics on lower cost products.”

Altia is offering a home automation GUI demo for the NXP i.MX RT1060 Crossover MCU board. Details about the demo and the Quick Start Guide can be found on Altia’s i.MX RT1060 product page.
